The Village of Southampton does not use speed bumps in the street as they are a hazard to emergency vehicles and street maintenance. We will discuss this area with our traffic engineer to find alternative methods to reduce speed. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

In the last year I have been clipped several times by speeding cars on david whites en route to/from bypass. Unfortunately the single stop sign and school zone do little to slow their advance.

Perhaps the Village, like they have done for other intersections is to place stop signs at all intersections in David Whites Lane to Route 27? That would deter speeders. Thank you.

i agree 1000% with all of the above comments. david whites ln has become a thoroughfare for speeders between 27 and hampton road. whether it is speed bumps, additional stop signs and/or more policing (especially during morning/evening rush hours), something needs to be done. i’ve seen the day care instructors try to cross DWL to take groups of children on their daily walks, and it’s difficult and dangerous given all the speeders. fixing this issue shouldn’t be that difficult.
