It would be informative to know what the cost of this illegal dumping is , it might be more cost effective to provide an alternative ...
If the City had a real garbage truck instead of a flatbed, 20 times more garbage could be picked up per trip to the transfer station ....
This capacity could also serve a drop off scheme --- preventative illegal dumping a pragmatic approach to an ongoing problem , keep in mind the COV pays no money for garbage disposal except collecting and transportation , the disposal fees are part of the garbage franchise contract --- food for thought for the up-coming garbage contract / monopoly ...
If efficiency were factored this approach could remove tons of trash and debris from our neighbourhoods for less cost than now , and vastly improve our City scape / environment ...
What a boon for neighborhood clean up's , a central drop off point , serviced by a garbage truck could handle many yards of waste , consider a small cost per bag drop off day , somewhere central , the transfer station has a minimum fee and is out of town and the current contract doe's not allow any independent disposal businesses ... This probably makes too much sence and would be far too cost effective to actually implement just food for thought .....
Thank you for reporting! Public Works has one full-time Maintenance worker whose sole job is to respond to illegal dumping reports throughout the City. This person usually makes 2 or more trips to the dump everyday, with each load weighing in around 1,200 pounds. We strive to respond to all reports in a timely fashion. If you see someone dumping illegally please report the incident to the Vallejo Police Department.
Thanks for reporting! Grounds Maintenance staff have resolved this issue. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please call the Grounds Supervisor at 707-648-4581. Thanks again for using SeeClickFix!
