Description
Please add stop lights, street lightd and a crosswalk for pedestrians. Many people cross the street here daily and cars are always speeding. There's no type of control before Congress merges with Silverbell, and when you drive south from Silverbell road, there's Cuesta Avenue, which is a residential street and it's the road up to "A" Mountain. It would really help to add street lights because it is too dark for a residential area, a crosswalk for pedestrians, and stop lights for traffic control.

The Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) received your request for street lighting on N Silverbell Rd.
Thank you for reaching out to DTM regarding streetlighting. Thanks to the passage of Proposition 411 we now have a funding mechanism to provide streetlighting. This location will be added to our intake list for evaluation. Any proposed location would need to be approved by the Complete Streets Coordinating Council. Also, know that for residential locations we perform outreach to gain consensus on the addition of streetlighting as some residents oppose their installation for various reasons.
Streetlighting is very expensive due to the need to provide underground conduit, wiring, connections to power sources and restoration of the excavated pavement surface. Due to the high costs, requested locations will likely exceed the funding available. We intend to evaluate and recommend locations in an equitable manner.
Tucson Electric Power (TEP) offers a Dusk to Dawn Lighting Program. For installation and monthly fees, TEP can install lighting on *existing utility poles in alleys, easements, public and private thoroughfares, shoulders, parking lots, private streets, and other areas where City maintained lighting is unavailable.
*Please note, Department of Transportation (DTM) does not own or operate utility poles without an existing overhead streetlight affixed.
This is Not a City of Tucson program. Residents are responsible for all fees associated with the TEP Dusk to Dawn Lighting Program.
