Description

As sent to Metro complaint desk today:

We've grown grudgingly accustomed to broken air conditioning, out-of-service escalators and derailments, but today Metro found a new way to torment its riders. Four times between the Bethesda and Dupont stops, the PA system in announcing the next stop let out a high-pitched, ear-piercing, deafening screech that sounded like metal on metal. Riders covered their ears from the shock, and one boy next to me, who appeared to be about 8, started putting his fingers in his ear for the duration of the ride after the 2nd or 3rd time. The driver, who must have heard the noise as we did, seemed oblivious. There was no explanation or apology, much less an attempt to fix the problem. How much longer will we have to deal with this never-ending string of problems on metro, even as you have raised the fares?
