Description

I'm not traffic engineer, but there MUST be a solution to the traffic mess in this area. The timing of traffic signals at the intersections of #1: E305St. & Marginal Rd.(just N of Rt.2); #2: E305 & Rt2 EB entrance/exit ramps(just S of Rt.2) & #3: E305 & Lakeland Blvd.(just N of the BP & Valero stations) HAVE BEEN TWEAKED AGAIN and it is complete chaos at evening rush hour. I don't know about other times of the day, but 5:30-6pm-ish, EB Rt2 traffic is backed onto the freeway at the E305 exit, folks are cutting each other off, running red lights (or maybe I should say CRAWLING through red light), because you can't get through the intersection otherwise. HELP!!! Can we PLEASE get some PROFESSIONAL to look at this area instead of whoever keeps changing the signals' timing and then decides to wait & see what happens?????

I think a police presence at this intersection would help with people trying to sneak through the red lights. Start handing out a few tickets and that will put a stop to that and would help with the flow of traffic.

It was never like this 2 years ago until someone changed the timing of the lights. Since then, it has been a nightmare at 5:30 p.m.

It seems like it got to be worse when the construction on 91 started. People seem to be using 305 as an alternate exit which makes backup even worse. Hopefully everything at 91 will be done soon and things will get better.

There needs to be a green turn arrow westbound on Lakeland, turning south on 305. Eastbound on Lakeland gets an extended light and an arrow so more than two people can turn left through the light. An engineer needs to re-evaluate what can be done at that intersection, but I believe that once all of the construction at 91 and Rt. 2 is fixed, it will alleviate some of the problems.

I go through there everyday around 11:30am and it is even insane then! I will be the third car from the light getting off the freeway and won't make it! Something needs to be done!

Tuesday night, I arrived at the E. 305 exit (from Rt. 2 heading east) at 4:35 p.m. I watched a green light at 4:48 p.m. remain green for less than 30 seconds only allowing 2 cars to turn left onto E. 305 Street (because the cars heading southbound on 305 block the exit). I finally completed my turn at 4:52 p.m. (almost 20 minutes later!!!!) Please, PLEASE have an engineer monitor this area to get this problem solved.

You have to understand. The city hires the mentally challenged people to time these lights... They pay them very well because no one else will hire them.
The city would appreciate, if while waiting to get through the light . Get out of your car & exercise. We are all fat & need to improve our health..

Does anybody know who is responsible for maintaning these traffic lights? We need to find out who they are and inform the public on how to contact them to make these complaints known. There is another ticket open on this subject (Traffic lights & lane markings) with 78 posts. This is not a minor issue.

for years I believe willowick & wickliffe shared responsibility of this intersection. I read somewhere recently that wickliffe now maintains it. It's been a clusterf**k for the 20 +yrs.I've lived here !! maybe eliminate the ent/exit of rt 2 on 305 and move them to exit on to lakeland blvd.on south side and have the west bound exit on n.marginal ? or you can do as I do and avoid it altogether and exit at worden rd !

Turning lights from lakeland to 305 would be a help the light turn red and i had to turn almost got hit because ppl run the red light there ... I agree they need to look into it...

can someone verify that wickliffe is responsible for this intersection. almost got hit there last night by someone speeding through a red light south bound on E305. have seen way too many red light runners. this intersection is going to cause some deaths if local law enforcement does not enforce red lights

I have been getting off RT2 at 305th street for more than 15 years and have never seen the light timing so messed up. Clearly they need to change the lights again and think about putting up a light on the pole at the exit ramp for traffic going north on 305th. The traffic always runs the red light going north and ends up blocking the traffic trying to turn left onto the east bound RT 2 ramp. Adding a light and a white line on the road will fix this problem. I have enough knowledge about the intersection to help the traffic engineers. Please contact me for advise. (440) 944-1762

Put it back to the way it was a year ago. The off ramp was able to empty or at least didn't leave cars stopped on 2.

What city has control of this intersection. I get a green light on the eastbound exit ramp and northbound cars are still driving through. You do not proceed through an intersection without making sure there is no cars in your path. In all my years of driving (36 years) I have NEVER seen an intersection were traffic lights WILL LET traffic from any other direction PASS through when my light is green! This is insane! If Willowick is doing this, and I think you are. Your tinkering with the signals do not follow state regulations on properly managing traffic signal control.

The intersection is Willowick. The traffic lights are controlled by the sensors on the roadway. 1st come, 1st serve. I come from NYC and thus have an abundant amount of patience for traffic. But the sensor system sucks. Those lights should be on timers. It would ease the flow of traffic at intersections like this one greatly!

The E305th Rt. 2 Traffic Mess. Wickliffe has control of the lights. Both the City of Wickliffe and Willowick confirmed this. The problem is Corrupte politicians in both cities. They blame it on the construction on Rt. 91. I hit this traffic problem at 10:00 PM. What a Crock of Poo. People the next time they want your vote. Vote for the other person. They can do any worse. Mayor Bonde is the worst thing for Willowick. He was a Two Bit Recreation director and a Two Bit Mayor.

I have been using this intersection for over 20 years now. The timing IS screwed up. The light controling north bound 305 traffic allows cars to continue through and then turns the east bound exit ramp green. This timing error sends the exit ramp traffic into moving traffic. Then to top off the whole mess the North bound trafic light on the marginal side stays red and backs up the lanes so that no one from the east bound exit ram can move out onto 305! The nature of these signals CAUSE drivers to run the lights in order to get anywhere. Before the timing went south, things ran fairly smooth. Whoever is responsible for this PLEASE PULL YOU HEAD OUT OF YOUR A**S AND FIX IT!!!!!

A few weeks ago at 5:30 in the morning I saw one section of lights out and the engineer working on them with Willowick police standing guard. Yesterday, I saw two Willowick police cars out there around 4pm chasing down people and writing tickets. Looks like Willowick has created a Lindale style speed trap. People are upset. Is time for a protest? Does anyone know how to contact the engineers directly?

ALSO, CARS ARE RUNNING THE RED LIGHT GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY 2 EASTBOUND AT 305. THEN THEY PROCEED TO MAKE A LEFT AND RUN THE RED LIGHT AT 305 AND LAKELAND. WHERE ARE THE POLICE? I ALMOST GOT HIT THIS MORNING BY A DUMP TRUCK COMING OFF THE FREEWAY AND RUNNING 2 RED LIGHTS TO MAKE THE TURN ON LAKELAND EAST. THIS INTERSECTION IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. MAYBE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE GET HURT OR GOD FORBID KILLED-SOMETHING WILL BE DONE.

Im sorry you do not see what is going on. The traffic lights are out of of sync. The lights are letting cars through the intersection. A proper timing cycle allows for traffic to clear before the next group of cars can proceed. People are not running the signals, they are obeying them. Whom ever is in charge of this is not correcting the poor timeing issue! I have been posting on this site since last year and who ever is in charge of this problem is not stepping up!!!!!!!!!

The City of Wickliffe is in charge of the lights in that area. Problem is...when we comment on this site the complaints are automatically forwarded to Willowick because that's what city they are in.

Everyone should write to Mayor Margalis (sp?) in Wickliffe. I wrote to both he and Mayor Bonde. Because of all the Route 2 road construction, it doesn't sound like this problem will be resolved anytime soon. Both Mayor's email addresses are posted on their respective city websites.

This is a horrible area. Willowick should try and get help from the government to move a ramp or two. Trying to turn left onto the freeway towards Mentor is impossible, the light changes to red, the opposite traffic still has green and then that backs up and turns red, then the Cleveland traffic is trying to get off the freeway and you are still stuck in the middle of the intersection with nothing you can do do. And people go thru what yellow and red lights they can get awaw with because they are sick and tired of waiting for almost 10 lights to get thru there. Oh, and when there is a car pulled over in that area, just forget.
