Opis

There is a treacherous series of four consecutive pot holes on Moss between Oakland and Vernon. Over the weekend a bicyclist hit one and took a terrible fall.

The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request #586387. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Thanks for the report. Due to the danger to cyclists, this issue is being submitted to Oakland as a "TOP 10" for immediate attention under an agreement with the Bike East Bay Hazard Elimination program.

Another cyclist took a horrendous fall on Moss yesterday after hitting a pothole. She may have suffered a broken a finger, but refused help from two neighbors. Luckily she was wearing a helmet. She would not let us take her picture.

This issue has the wrong address. It should be 49 Moss, not 95 Moss.

The address on the original complaint was wrong and the pothole that was filled is not the one causing bike accidents. It is at 45-49 Moss Ave. and is still a major hazard. The latest problem is that people are dodging the pothole and almost colliding with cars turning off of Oakland Ave onto Moss at high speeds. Unfortunately, Moss has become a short cut to 580 for cars, as well as being a regular bicycle route. This pothole is creating extremely dangerous situations. I apologize for having the wrong address in the original post.

For what its worth, I reported this pothole on March 24 as SCF issue 1551224. The city keeps filing new service requests for it, but no actual action has been taken. FIX THIS.
