When the McKee Farms development was built, sidewalks were installed along McKee Rd, BUT the crosswalks are not all in place. People walking east on McKee, do not have a crosswalk in place. It is very dangerous as one side has a completed crosswalk, but the other sides do not.

Charlotte DOT says adding 2 more crosswalks to this intersection is in the planning stages. It's going to take 10 months to a year. Here is the story which aired on See, Click, Fix.

I got a very surprising email from a viewer saying that Charlotte crews were at this intersection yesterday putting in a crosswalk. It's surprising because on May 11th Charlotte DOT informed us, and I quote, "The process may take 10 months to a year or longer." What changed? We're waiting for a response from CDOT's Communications & PR Manager. I'll keep you posted on what they say, since our job is to inform the public.
Thanks for being our eyes and ears out there!

Here's the response from Charlotte DOT. What do you think? Post your comments here or to cnelson@wbtv.com:
"The crosswalks and pedestrian signals are being installed as part of CDOT’s improvement project for this intersection. Normally, it’s preferred all the work be done at the same time. However, in this case, the signals crew had an available work slot and so was able to fit the improvements into their schedule ahead of the rest of the work. But we’re still in the same 10 months – one year projected schedule for the sidewalk and wheelchair ramp installation which will complete the project."

I'm sorry, this is complete nonsense. The other crosswalks and pedestrian signals have been there for TWO YEARS! They are not ahead of schedule, but far behind.
We are thankful to have them in place.
