Can you look into this.

I have been noticing the degrading of this property for a while now also. It seems like good people live in the building but they might need some assistance.

Is there assistance for struggling home owners with homes that have life threatening conditions?

This unit ( 30 Nash St. ) is in foreclosure. The sale date is 6/26/10, which means this complex is going down the tubes fast.

Note the crazy sales history... The same guy, Kojo Gyamfi, has another property in foreclosure, 17 Nash St., on the same block.

"absentee landlords, Kojo and Helen Gyamfi, defaulted on the house’s mortgage in 2007. The bank sent a note. According to legal documents, they failed and neglected to pay the default. Another note was sent in February.

Has LCI taken a look at this. Its a real safety hazard.

The condo unit was in foreclosure. Looks like it might now be bank owned. Good luck with that. Kojo Gyamfi, slumlord or speculator? You decide. Oh where oh where is LCI, the fire dept., LCI? I guess the city doesn't want to take another slum building off of the tax roles.

Has this been resolved? I see work has been done on at least one of the units.

17 Nash Street shows no signs of foreclosure. The building is beyond the beginning stages of rot & decay that was reported a year ago. Pieces of the building litter the sidewalk and curb area until neighbors clean them up. Apparently the (6 or is it 7 or 8?) children living in 17 Nash St. delight in throwing pieces of lattice, trim boards and pointed metal window frames as spears and thrown objects.

No, neither issue has been resolved. I say neither because a photo of the fire escape at #28 or #30 Nash was posted on a complaint about #17 Nash. All 3 places are very much open issues.
Here's the rundown: #28 and #17 Nash are both currently owned by a person who has been written up in the Advocate several times due to the way she manges her properties. #30 was also owned by this person. She defaulted on #30.
Her m.o. seems to be to do a very poor exterior repair job, then slap some paint on the exterior. Inside, its another matter: she ignores her tenant pleas to remedy vermin infestations, horribly clogged drains, etc and she does not properly repair her roofs. The good tenants usually leave.
Vacated or neglected conditions then continue to send buildings into a downward spiral and then tenant destruction accelerates the decline. In the case of #17, a family of 11 was jammed into less than 1000 SF. Huge streaks of mold stain the walls of a small bedroom where 5 little boys were sleeping. The mold led to some very ill children and eventually the condemnation of the first floor. Then when they left, the doors to the house were ;eft wide open and the pipes to the 2nd floor burst. The 2nd floor has now been or will soon be condemned to cite just one example of the dynamic....
I do not have the time nor energy to report all that I see and dare not report all that I suspect. Will my neighbors please join in keeping an eye on things, at least until a certain person with a scary record stops squatting at #17 and/or living at # 28.

Thank you very much for taking care of of thisng. As you can see, todays events were more positive. I hope neighbors will join in watching the house against tresspassers and vandals until the day that it is safely lived in once again.

They are taking it down and redoing it right now!!
