Moderator: You might want to remove the image and request one in which the person's face is not visible. This has the makings of a classic "false light" claim.
Thanks for the heads-up, Uncle Egg. The pic has been removed. That said, pictures like this can be very useful to the police and have played a role in making arrests in similar cases in the past. Whoever posted the photo might want to consider sending it to the NHPD.
Thanks very much for the offer, but the pic is gone...when we remove something, not only is it gone from public view, it is erased from our database altogether. Perhaps Blockwatcher can help with this?
The official policy prohibits posting any content that is "unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable"
The relevant terms here would be "defamatory" and "libelous," if this was indeed a false light claim, and we are required to presume that the individual in question is not actually a prostitute until it is proven that she (or he...who knows?) actually is.
It might be helpful to members of the community to post a pic with the face blurred out, since it would give us some idea of what to look out for in this area. However, the unblurred photo itself amounts to the criminal accusation of a specific individual, and as such should be sent only to the NHPD.

Actually, after re-reading the clicket, I'd say it goes farther than false light. It plainly states that this woman is a hooker, which is potentially libelous.
@Blockwatcher -- I understand what you're trying to do. But I think a blurred photo is still useful. It avoids the libel concern, but presents the problem in concrete terms to the public and any police or city officials monitoring the site.
I'll stifle the rant that's coming on in exchange for an email address at NHPD to which unblurred photos should be sent. Preferably it should be the address of a supervisor in dispatch who'll have the wit and ability to forward the image to the officers assigned to the appropriate district.
It is . . Thanks John . . it used to be rchassett . He has a watch area set up. Nonetheless, his normal shift is 8 hours out of 24. If the NHPD doesn't have an address which is monitored 24/7 (at reasonable intervals of course) for images like the one under discussion, it should.
@Blockwatcher That's a great question. Does the NHPD have an email address that we could send a photo to so that the photo could be immediately relayed to officers on the street? If not, maybe they should set one up.
Uncle Egg- I do not believe she could have a libel case because any reasonable person could see that she is in fact a prostitute and I believe the law is if what the person is saying is actually true then it is not libelous. If u watched her you would see her turn and pose for each car that goes by. She follows it and if it stops she then proceeds to go up to it and "talk" to the person. If everything is agreed upon she then gets in the car. If u continue to watch they go and park in the parking lot of a church for ten minutes or so. She then gets dropped off and it starts all over again. Mind u this all occurs with a elementary school right across the street. Recently one prostitute decided it would be a good idea to go behind the deli on our street and have intercourse with a gentleman on the garbage container. this occurred in the middle of the day in an area were children are around and when i say behind it, it really isn't because its on a corner so its back is were everyone can see. I believe these women need some kind of help and if the police or a judge can make the services these woman need available to them then I am all for it. I could misunderstand the libel thing and please correct me if I am mistaken. I do realize that prostitution is between two consenting adults and thats fine but my issue is when it brings drugs and violence to the neighborhood and to the prostitute herself (I have witnessed a prostitute being punched by a customer over money issues, again during broad daylight)
I applaud him for trying something instead of doing nothing! I am on the block watch and unfortunately the police seem 2 b busy with drugs and murder to actually do an under cover sting that is needed 2 get both the Johns and prostitutes. I do understand what u r saying about the photo issue but again I do not think that it is an issue. I could b wrong let me know!
