One small sign before trail only faces eastbound traffic on Water St. (coming from Union St); nothing visible for cyclists coming westbound off of Olive, etc. and no sign at trail entrance immediately off Water St.
Trail was cleaned up very nicely (and hopefully will see more use) but still not well marked. No signage visible from street, and painted cyclist on asphalt leading to trail head (letting you know to go right, not left onto the service road) is fading.
Issue still outstanding. Also, painted cyclist symbol on pavement indicting trail (as opposed to service road that forks off on other side) at the head off of Water St. is also very faded.
Absolutely. The Vision Trail needs just a bit of re-visioning to help bring the water's edge back into the cognitive maps of New Haveners. There is fancy sidewalks with brick detailing around the IKEA lot -- bravo on that -- but the Union Street/Water Street terminus and cut-through under Rt. 34 could be improved on the cheap. Would love to think about tying in the Vision Trail to the little sliver park on Union Street that borders the railroad cut.
It's across from High School in the Community...looks like a service road. Go under the overpass and take a right (towards the bollard), not a left, which is a service road.

Thanks for the acknowledgement!
I use this trail 2-3 times weekly to get down to Long Wharf, and I know other cyclists do too (or would more frequently, if it was better publicized).
