If you rent, and have "on street" parking, you are very likely to somehow, at some point, be snarled into some ridiculous appeals process to get the original parking/towing ticket thrown out, especially if you feel your property was seized unjustly. The fines keep adding up, and the City's 10 towing companies keep fueling up to go make money overnight. This policy is a breach of citizen's 4th amendment rights. We already comply with licensing, registration, and soaring insurance... yet now the city wants more of its on-street parkers. Whether the fine is $50 or $150 dollars, WE DON'T HAVE IT. Plus, we already paid $88 to get our property released from your enforcers. If you are poor, and have a car, you are screwed in New Haven.

This issue is about the current procedures for ticketing/towing cars - and the appeals process - as opposed to the ability of the city to ticket and tow cars.
Surely you're not suggesting that the city shouldn't be able to ticket and/or tow cars if they are in violation of a parking/traffic law. In which case, you should specify the exact case(s) in which cars (property) have been unjustly ticketed or towed (ceased) so that those specific procedures can be addressed.
I personally disagree with the procedure for the notification of street cleaning days and towing - I think that the city should have permanent signs on road sides that detail exactly when those streets will be cleaned (e.g., 2nd Monday of the months of April, June, August, and October). I think that 48 hours notice is sometimes not enough for residents to realize that street cleaning will occur (e.g., if they go on a vacation for a few days).
However, even though I disagree with this particular procedure, I do not think that the city does not have a right to ticket/tow my car per se.
In any case, your assertion that the city's policy favors the wealthy (as they have driveways) is easily countered by the fact that the value of property (and thus the taxation rate) is increased when there's a driveway. Also, the proposed new Storm Water tax will apply to properties that have driveways.

Know your streets sweeping schedules. - When they say 7:30 to 3:30 or 4pm , they mean it, sometimes the street appears to be done , but even at 1pm they will turn that corner so fast it'll be toast for your ride

The price of scrap metal is very high, It is literally highway robbery.
Here in New Haven the tow trucks with a vehicle from their yard will smash into a parked car prior to towning, using either the impounded vehicle or tow truck to get away - then either fraudulently tow your car then or at street sweeping time.
They might have gave up at that dirty trick ,and just try to total your car via insurance adjusters - one can see cars hit in strategic areas like at the door posts , where the owner can't open either door
Always has been a criminal element in guys working the graveyard shift staring at a snowy TV waiting for a call
