Why does the VPD and City Council continue to turn a blind eye to the reckless driving on Tuolumne between Tennessee and Redwood? Are they waiting for a grandparent or parent to die, or will it take the death of a child to wake them from their stupor? People are sick of the reckless speeders and aggressive drivers on this road who are putting innocent lives at risk. Wake up Vallejo leaders, before you are held legally liable for harm of others because you were negligent and derelict in your duties.

How time (and promises) flies...
05/04/2018: "Thank you VPD for a making a good start."
08/31/2018: "Maybe VPD will respond.. all I got when I called them was a weak excuse and no plan to take any action!"

This has also been a problem on Nebraska St. by Highland School parking lot, cars parked on sidewalk preventing people to walk down the street safely. There are parents walking their children to school and pushing strollers, and not able to walk the sidewalk safely. I myself have a disability with my feet and not feeling the ground very well my wife and I walk regularly in the area. I was forced to walk onto Nebraska St. because of a car parked on the side walk completely blocking the side walk, the side walks are in bad shape because of the tree roots lifting the sidewalk, making it very uneven and so I walked had to walk onto the street to get around the car that was parked there. As I walked onto Nebraska St. a car clipped me with his side view mirror, I was not able to get a license plate number of the vehicle when it got to Shasta St. it just blew through the stop sign traveling approximately 40 to 50 MPH and not even slowing down. This was doing school hours. I did call 911 and put in a complaint about the vehicle parked on the sidewalk, the car was eventually ticked a short time later but two days latter there were more cars parked on the side walk and nothing done! It looks like it will take a serious accident or a DEATH to get more done.
I have spoken to the City engineer many time in the past as how the make this a safer area ( by installing calming strips in front of the school cross walk on Nebraska St. but nothing got done, I also asked to possibly having a portable RADAR GUN PUT UP TO SHOW PEOPLE JUST HOW FAST THEY ARE TRAVELING!!! I have seen them at different areas around town where speed is a problem.
I would also like to mention that the Vallejo School District took it upon themselves to paint the Red Curb White, when I informed the City Engineer of this and the other mentioned items above within TWO DAYS THE CITY CAME OUT AND REPAINTED THE CURB RED. I wonder if the school was reprimanded or not? I would guess they weren't. In my opinion this is one of the reasons that we as a city are in a financial crisis and does not seem to be getting any better!!

Like I said (09/01/2018)...

...and...
01/27/2019; "Why can't VPD make an appearance and write some speeding tickets?"
Guess the problem is that what the VPD defines as serious crime does not fit with the crimes that most citizens want to see enforced. And the City Council? No, they just don't have any say over what the PD thinks and does!.

Almost a year ago, K.Wright wrote: "Why does the VPD and City Council continue to turn a blind eye to the reckless driving on Tuolumne ".
Did anyone see a response here -- or anywhere -- from anyone on the City Council. Of course there was no response from VPD, who consider themselves to have no responsibilities -- to either do or speak anything -- to the people of this city.

Also, there are not sidewalks on both sides of street on every block, so you've got people walking in the street, people on bicycles, many of which are on the wrong side of the street for their direction of travel, and riding at night with no front or rear lights and sometimes not even reflectors. It all adds up to a disaster in the making. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks something should be done...

Vallejo pd and the whole city officials are useless
30 millions goes into waste and nothing gets done
can we just become part of the county
i believe the sheriff is doing an excellent job out in county side of Vallejo

And to commemorate the upcoming first anniversary of this unanswered question:

I have been complaining of this for over 5 years now. Police must not think it is a priority and or they don't have the man power. So, there is no traffic enforcement! I have been hit and run in front of my house about 2 years ago police would do nothing even with a picture of the license plate they would not even respond. I have been hit and run in Vallejo 3 times in the last 4 years. Also, at the same corner a couple of weeks ago there was a side show going on spinning doughnuts in the intersection when school was letting out children crossing the street, stopping traffic for several minutes. What is going on here. You can take pictures of this things happening and can't do any thing about it. Looks like it will take some one to get shot or killed for something to happen is this what it will take? I live on Nebraska just a few houses from the the intersection and I would say at a minimum of 7 out of 10 cars don't stop and some don't even slow down. If we don't do any thing it will get bigger and bigger. Does any body have an answer to help the problem ?

Have been hearing cars use the Vista neighborhoods as a race track - it's like they think it's fun to go as fast as possible on these small, one lane, crowded roads. Last year we had a car literally crash into my neighbors home and flip over onto their lawn. Driver immediately took off running.
Despite all of the illegal paraphernalia and other peoples ID cards that spilled out of the totaled vehicle, VPD told us there was nothing they could do - not charges or tickets they would give to the driver - all they could help with was getting a tow truck here to pull the wreckage off the lawn. Nor did they test the driver for DUI...

Public Works will be restarting the Traffic Calming Program in the next month or two, we are currently working with a consultant to bring the program up to current standards (the program has been on hold for the past 8-9 years). They are working on the final drawings/cost estimates.
We have been logging in requests for traffic calming and will use this log to help restart the program. Tuolumne St has had requests from various residents, and has been logged in already.

I've had VPD tell me point blank they do not bother with traffic enforcement. I've had VPD dispatch tell me a) if there's no gun, we aren't responding and b) "we only have 4 officers on patrol and cannot respond"
Isn't the majority of the city budget going to VPD? Is that just going to lawsuit payouts? How are we so short staffed? Why are we buying prime real estate for VPD when apparently they need that money for lawsuit payouts and payroll?

over as their city counsel representative; they hate business and literally drive them away to other (red) states that welcome them and the taxes they bring. Those misguided folks also cut the police forces (being THE people behind Defund The Police movement), resulting in what we now have. The are ALSO traditionally SOFT on crime, blaming the weapon or their poor, poor circumstances. Add to that all the parolees and vagrants who get sympathy and not the righteous rounding-up and incrassated they all deserve. Oh, but they WILL support the ban of gun shows. THAT will show those criminals. Raise the speeding fines to a thousand dollars MINIMUM and public shaming of the violators.
